Chapter 6

Early Monday Morning, Italy

Edwin walked into the kitchen full of energy. The rest of the family has been downstairs talking about the events of that morning while he was upstairs, waiting. Finally the wait was over. He had the information he had been waiting for. Now it was time to fly. When he walked into the room, he paused just long enough to see what the elevated voices were all about. Realizing that the discussion was about his birth mother, he interrupted with a roll of his dark blue eyes.

“The chip had been activated.”

Everyone turned to look at him with a confused look on their faces.

“The chip in Angie's hand, it's on the move. We can track them that way,” he explained.

“Why does she have a chip?” asked Janelle, dazed.

“Because she was afraid of the people she crossed long ago coming to get her.”

“Does anyone else know about her chip?” questioned Collier as he picked Indigo up off his lap and placed her on her floor.

“Yeah, grandma, which means she knows we're coming. So let's go. If she allowed Angie to go with them knowing about the chip, they might be in trouble,” Edwin finished in a rush. He turned to leave only to stop at the sound of his father.

“Waylan, I want to you leave heading back to the states to find out about Jillian. If it's not too late to save her, please-”

“And what if Grandma was right? Then will you be able to make the call. She always has a good reason for what she does. Maybe you should just let things play out?” pressed Edwin.

Collier remained silent as he considered his son's words.

“Waylan and I will both go. We know what to do, ok?” smiled Callie. She could almost see the weight of everything that had happened crushing the man. She watched at those going got up and started to leave the room. For a moment, her eyes connected with Edwin and she read the clear message that was in their blue depths, and if it came to it, she would do as he wished.

They were led to the third level and to a room at the end of the hall. The women knew the house like the back of their hands. Each one had been there at different times, but the layout was still the same. Nevaeh opened the double doors, walked into the large library and acknowledged eight women that had been waiting inside. The setting sun shone through the large bay windows to bathe the library in an array of red and orange light.

Choosing a very uncomfortable chair to the side, Levi scanned the room. It was obvious that these women were the ones that made the decisions in the brothel. He gathered that the place ran on a voting system from the statement Nevaeh had made earlier with one main person, the Madam, holding all of the power. His eyes went from female to female as he tried to figure out which one was that power wielding woman.
